LINCOLN — The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) unveiled updates to the WIC (Women, Infants and Children) program income guidelines today, allowing a family of four to earn up to $55,500 annually, reflecting an increase of $4,162 from the previous year.
The LLCHD said the WIC program aims to ensure that pregnant women, new mothers, infants and children up to five have access to healthy foods, nutrition counseling, breastfeeding support and community resources—at no cost.
“Families who may not qualify for other federal programs could still be eligible for WIC under the increased income guidelines. This update could not have come at a better time,” said Kayla Abel, WIC Program Coordinator for Family Service. “Grocery prices remain high and WIC can be a valuable resource to help supplement a family’s food budget and provide healthy eating options.”
Foods included in the WIC program:
- Fresh fruits and vegetables.
- Fruit and vegetable juices.
- Eggs.
- Milk.
- Cheese.
- Yogurt.
- Peanut butter.
- Bread.
- Pasta.

- Dried/canned beans and peas.
- Canned fish.
- Infant formula.
