“Possessions” was initially submitted to the 2023 Phillip Perry Photojournalism Challenge, hosted annually by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s College of Journalism and Mass Communications.
By definition, a possession is an item of property. However, it also means a state of being controlled. In a world of dominating materialism and overconsumption, what possessions does a younger generation actually value the most? To explore this topic, I asked people what their favorite thing that they own is, and its importance in their lives.
