The 75th annual lighting of the Nebraska State Christmas Tree took place today in the Capitol Rotunda.
Charlie Brogan of KFOR emceed the event featuring performances by Olivia Vanderford, Concordia Lutheran High School and St. Teresa Elementary School.
The tree-lighting ceremony was followed by the first annual Hometown Christmas celebration outdoors at the Governor’s Mansion, featuring a live Nativity scene, face painting, Santa and Mrs. Clause, hayrack rides and more.
Visitors can view the 20-foot Colorado blue spruce donated by the Upper Big Blue Natural Resources District until Dec. 28.
